The Importance of Taking “No Days Off”

Most of the time our lives consist of routine and acceptance. We accept the routine and we are complacent with where we are at in life. We humans rarely think about doing anything outside the norm if there isn’t any sign of danger or if there isn’t a threat to our routine.

Then there are some of us who are born with an innate hunger for more. You hear of businessmen or celebrities and how they always want more. What they always want is usually more money or control. They spend time away from their kids and spouses landing business deals that will make them money they will never be able to spend.

God instilled in me an innate hunger for a greater purpose. When I was younger I just used it to strive for money but God never honored that. The harder I pushed the more it seemed like I was treading water. He broke me and I turned to His Word on how to harness this ability. For a while it felt like a handicap and others I talked to didn’t seem to relate.

“No Days Off” is a motto I have been living by for quite a few years. It always reminded me that no matter what happened, I could not quit.

“A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.” (Proverbs 24:33-34)

I don’t want to apply “No Days Off” to only my work ethic. This is a motto that applies to every aspect of your life and at times I feel convicted that I don’t live up to it but I believe we should do our best to pursue it. Nobody is perfect but we can always strive for perfection.

“No Days Off” should be applied to any aspect of your life. Work, health, faith, family, or whatever is important to you. For me I try to balance my work goals with my faith and family. Every day you need keep your priorities straight and push for a better you. Spending time with God daily is important and so is spending quality time with your family. No matter what you have going on at work you need to focus because there is so much more at stake.

Like Dee-1 says “The devil don’t take a day off. So I can’t neither!”.
